portabilityposterThursday, December 10th  14:00–17:00 – Room A1G3, European Parliament (Brussels)

“This content is not available in your country”: On Dec 9, the European Commission will present plans towards reducing such barriers online, starting with a legislative proposal on Portability, i.e. the ability to bring your digital content access subscriptions with you as you cross EU borders.

The debate on measures against geoblocking has so far mostly focused on potential risks, with little attention drawn to the opportunities for those culturally diverse communities that are the staunchest supporters of the European project: Groups that rely on open borders and intercultural communication such as linguistic minorities, migrants, exchange students, language learners, travellers, etc.

Please join MEPs Julia Reda (European Pirate Party) and Jill Evans (Plaid Cymru) in exploring these opportunities and evaluating the proposed measures together with stakeholders in two panel debates:

  • 14:00–15:20 The opportunities of increased cross-border exchange
introductory presentation by Felice Simonelli (CEPS), panelists: Agustin Reyna (BEUC), Julia Lindholm (Finnish Permanent Representation), Davyth Hicks (ELEN), Aleksandra Kluczka (AEGEE)

Hosted by the Greens/EFA group
Interpretation offered in English, French, German, Danish and Swedish

Please RSVP to julia.reda-office@ep.europa.eu

Attendees without an EP badge must register by December 3rd (exceptions to the deadline can be made in individual cases!) by sending in full name, nationality, ID type (passport/ID card) and number and birth date – thank you!
